Two Articles
One of the article’s that I chose
focuses on West Ham’s United improvement this season. This article tackles the
5 W’s which are very important in an article.
Last year, this time West Ham were battling relegation but this year
they are fighting for a champions league spot.
The 5 important W’s consist of :
Who? Covering West Ham
football club
What? West Ham’s current
success
When? From the beginning
of the season till now
Where? London and also in
the London stadium
Why? To raise the point of
this club’s current good form
This article is written in the 3rd
person, where he evaluates all the certain aspects of the football club,
covering all areas including the club’s cultural change , David Moyes
appointment’s as club’s new head coach after Slaven Bilic. He also mentions the
aspect’s of the club’s recruitment team. West Ham have signed unknown players
from all over the world such as Thomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal and Craig
Dawson. These players have been a revelation to the club , which undoubtedly
their impact gave a huge boost to the Hammer’s side. The article also cover’s
the aspect of West Ham finding their suitable formation. The Irons have found
their suitable formation in the 5-3-2. He also mentions that the likes of
Declan Rice and Aaron Cresswell, former West Ham academy graduates, have been a
stand-out to the Hammers. The solidity in defence was another part which he

I think that it was written in
the best way possible as it keeps the reader focused all the time. As mentioned
before, the inclusion of legends of the game and other manager’s opinions can
help the reader understand the article better.

it evaluates every aspect of the club from transfers to tactics. I think this
article covers the club from every point, which is why it attracts lots of the
viewers to read it. It is written in depth with no information missing from it.

This role has played a big part
in this article. We can see and hear David Moyes’s comments after their premier
league match in his press conference. The interviewer is asking spontaneous
questions for the manager to respond after his match. The questions make a lot
of sense, he was asked about their league transformation and their current form
in the premier league. There are also videos that include pundits’ ideas on
this team, analysing the team from both aspects of the game.

in the story:
I think David Moyes answers his
questions quite well, where he handled the pressure of the questions asked from
the interviewer’s. His responses were spot on ,as he covered every angle of the
question and gave the necessary answer’s that the viewer want to hear from his
side’s head coach.

The technical aspect in this
article is quite simple, as he is only using a camera and questions are being
asked from a zoom call. The shot applied in the interview is a medium shot, which
is enough for the subject to look in the best way during an interview.

Every football fan would be
interested of reading this article , as from football’s point of view, it is
separated into sections for us to understand it better. I think worldwide,
these type of report’s are a huge interest for football fans especially in
England. Even though not every person supports West Ham, it is still a huge
interest to look at what is going at West Ham Football Club. The idea of
involving other opinion’s in the article, can influence other people’s decision
on the football aspect.
The Intentions of the
presenter telling the story:
As mentioned before, the way the
presenter presented the article to the audience is very impressive. The depth
that he goes into while writing the article is something to be talked about. It
is detailed and straight to the point. I think the intentions of the presenter is
to raise the fact that West Ham are a solid and an organised team that can win
against anyone. He mentions the fact the central defensive midfielders are the
key behind their success covering both aspects in the game (defence and
attack).

of transfers . Erling Braut Haaland is a player in demand which is one of the
best youngsters in the world. This article covers the 5 W’s as it mentions
every aspect regarding this topic , where they are applied in the correct way.

club can pay the money required in it and the player can talk with other clubs.

the article is lengthy, but it was necessary to attract the viewer to read the
article.

formal style, as its written format is easy to analyse. This article was
written in England, but it is focusing on a player playing in Germany. As
already mentioned before, the article consists of interviews with managers,
ex-players and journalists from around the United Kingdom. A couple of photos
were also included to show the passion and hunger that this player has.
This specific article was very
interesting as it is mentioning the player’s success with his current club, the
demand for his signature from top clubs and bringing the fact the player can
bring goals to any football side in the world.
Quality and Depth:
The article’s quality is quite
good and very informative to any football fan reading it. It has the power to
reach the football clubs themselves that were mentioned in the article. They
can analyse his stats, hear what others think about this player, the club in
pole position for his signature and which club could be his preferred
destination. It also covers Haaland’s story , starting from the beginning of
his career, mentioning his stats at this moment in time, the friendship that he
has with the Manchester United Boss, and the step that Haaland needs to make in
his career for the benefit of his future.

Again, the presenter played a
huge part for this article to be formed, as he gathered the thoughts of

interviewee’s in this article as it is more based on opinion rather than

story responded quite well to the questions related to Haaland as they covered

article is very simple as the interviews all took place in an online call due
to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. They took place on zoom, with good audio

covering the football part but also talking about generational talents that are
growing in this moment. This article would interest mostly the fans whose their

As already mentioned before, his
target is to show to the world how good this player is, and that the biggest
clubs in the world are competing for his signature. He also wanted to gather
ideas from the public’s point of view such as journalists. I think that his
target was achieved and managed to share this player’s talent around the world.
PART C:
In this article, the 5W’S are tackled very good. Erling Haaland’s story
is an inspiration to everyone which other fellow footballers must follow. The
story is covering Haaland’s (WHO?) start as a young player to were he ended up
now. The who is spot on as the main focus is the player himself, where the
article mentions the start of his fantastic career, from Salzburg to
Dortmund. It lacks a bit of information
from mentioning the fact from where he started his career. The stats shown are
incredible (WHAT?) for a young striker that is still developing. Opinions from
football experts helps everyone to understand the greatness of this particular
player, such as his stats, contribution to the game and desire to win the ball.
His breakout year has been this year as his goalscoring records are
eye-catching (WHEN?). There is also the question of if he will be leaving
Dortmund aswell.
There is also sense of pressure coming out of this article as this player
is a human being and he is surrounded by lots of pressure around him. Hi
success is happening in Dortmund, Germany (WHERE?). He is scoring lots of goals
in the Bundesliga , where teams are frightened to play against him. These are
all facts that are happening right now, where the journalist writing this
article has gathered the necessary data for the article to be written in the
best way. The podcast included in the article discusses any potential moves in
the summer transfer market and which club is his preferred destination. The
focus on this player has been ongoing for several years now (WHY?), but after

journalist for the Daily Telegraph, one of the most trusted newspaper in England.
As stated on the Daily Telegraph (Law,2021) law himself confirms that there are
more than 5 clubs trying to sign him, with Manchester City the favourites, but
he didn’t rule out the fact that he can move elsewhere as well. Sky also
mentioned the same figures, which confirms that their sources are very
reliable. Sky Sports is a popular news portal source, where they focus on all
the clubs in the best possible way, where they have journalists and Club
legends covering every club from across England. The article’s journalist gathers
all the necessary information such as transfer news and different thoughts,
where they speak all the necessary truth to keep the discussion ongoing. Club
legends such as Jamie Carragher, said that every club will try to sign him. Carragher
spoke facts, although he is a Liverpool legend, he kept it very professional
and neutral, which was pleasing to see.
