Narrative

In our latest lesson, we discussed the concepts of narrative and how it evolved throughout the years. In the beginning of the 1900's in the year, certain people discussed the idea of introducing indoor cinemas, where people would leave the cinema with an ultimate experience. People loved the idea of the introduction of cinemas but as time passed, they started to get used to it and they wanted to experience something different.

We also discussed diegesis as the main topic. Diegesis is the way how narrative can have an impact on different elements. It may concern elements such as characters, events . The events of a story is presented to the audience on how the author wants it to be communicated to the people outside. The story is the main purpose for the viewer to know what is happening and also get the feel of the importance of it.

Narrative is the art of how the story is told to the audience. When a story is being told, an important factor for it to get into people's mind is to give them a clear image on what's going on in the story. They manage to interpret it better and get the best view out of it.

Sometimes you hear people talking about the screen and the newspapers as the same thing. The way the story is said on a screen and the newspaper is not the same , the screen gives you a clear view of the story and it can be understood better, but on a newspaper you have to make an image of your own and make the best view out of it.

The main target of filmmakers and also journalists is to keep the audience concentrated and excited on what about is going to happen. Filmmakers gives a lot of importance to their content because it is the message they want to give out to us.

A good example of a movie that kept the movie with the narration is Casablanca. The filmmaker decided to make a good use of it and kept the movie ongoing with a sequence. The way how the story of this particular movie is being presented, you can understand it quite easily and you can predict the outcome of the story.

A movie that a gave a whole twist to the narration is Mulholland Drive. The director of this movie David Lynch gave the audience a huge task for them, to be able to understand the movie, the ability to know exactly what is going is happening and understand the basics of it
